The Story of my Life

"If I could wish for my life to be perfect,
it would be tempting, but I would have to decline,
for life would no longer teach me anything..."

Road Accident

Posted by Claire |

I hit a motorcycle this morning on my way to work. But to be honest I really don't know if it was my fault. All I remember is that when it was time for our lane to go, I drove ahead of the pack and the next thing I know the car was hit by a motorcycle.

I froze for an instant. I had no clue of what to do. This is my first road accident so I went by my initial reaction. When the driver recovered, I saw him pointing at me and mouthing words I couldn't understand. I went down to see the damage. And explained to him what "I" thought had happened. I was standing in the middle of the road talking as loud as I could for him to hear me.
Looking back now, I know I sounded defensive and I didn't even show a slightest hint of concern for the driver who may have been badly hurt. I already saw he was limping but I ignored him as I was more concerned of defending myself.

Husbo arrived a few minutes later. Between the two of us, Husbo is the one more diplomatic and composed when it comes to things like these so I had him deal with the driver and the police. They exchanged numbers without agreeing on a settlement.

On our way to work (husbo decided to drive me to work after the incident), I realized that I could've handled things better. I could've apologized, not to mean that I am admitting it was all my fault, but more for any damage or injury the accident could've caused him. I also could've replied kindly when he approached me to apologize for the accident. He saw that I was pregnant and he apologized for it. Husbo said we should give him something to cover for his medical check-up which I don't mind.

One thing I learned from this experience is that accidents do happen and if it happens to you, you should not forget to do your moral obligations to the other party whether it is your fault or not. And those are (1) to check if they're free from any danger, and (2) apologize because either way you've caused inconvenience.

I hope the driver is okay and that his leg is not seriously hurt despite the limping. I hope that God sends his angels to cure him.

Praying Together

Posted by Claire |

There've been a few times that the husbo caught me praying aloud in bed. It has become a habit because I'm teaching Kara how to pray at this early stage.

In the past, when husbo would come in and we were still praying, I'd stop my prayer and then go on with our "kwentuhan session" instead. I did so because I felt uneasy letting him hear my prayers. Last night, when he came in the room, we were halfway thru our prayer. He asked what we were doing and when I told him, he lie down beside me and joined in the prayer.

I felt a little awkward but it felt good. We pray together in the church or adoration chapel, but we never share our prayers to each other. Last night was the first time. So it felt odd. But in the end, I felt more connected to him and Kuya Jess.

I don't know if it's okay that we share our prayers to Kuya Jess. I feel like it's a violation of my personal time with Him. But I also feel that its good that we do because it keeps our bond stronger. When Kara comes, I'd pursue a prayer time for the family without sacrificing my alone time with Kuya Jess.

To the People of Japan

Posted by Claire |

I pray that this catastrophe will soon come to an end and that no more lives will be sacrificed.

I pray that you receive all the help you can get from countries all over the world.

I pray that other countries who have nuclear plants will shut down their own plants after seeing what happened to the nuclear plant in Japan.

I pray that the people who have been affected stay faithful and steadfast in Your love, dear Lord.

I pray that nothing like this happen again in the near future so we can recover and learn from it.

I pray that you get enough food and warm clothes.

I pray for those who have not been saved yet, may the Lord lead the rescuers way to you so that you can be brought to safer grounds.

I pray that everyone prays for you so that the Lord can hear us and He'll save us from all these.

These we ask in Jesus' name, Amen Lord Amen.

A Prayer

Posted by Claire |

People and circumstances have been trying my patience since this day started. This morning alone, I received a text from someone that bothered me a bit. And then when I got to the office, I had another encounter with our IT support team. These are just two minor incidents that given the right amount of patience I could easily brush off. But I didn't. And now I feel bad.

I looked up a prayer for patience in the net, this is what I found.

Lord, teach me to be patient - with life, with people, and with myself.
I sometimes try to hurry things along too much,
and I push for answers before the time is right.
Teach me to trust Your sense of timing rather than my own
and to surrender my will to Your greater and wiser plan.

Help me let life unfold slowly,
like the small rosebud whose petals unravel bit by bit,
and remind me that in hurrying the bloom along,
I destroy the bud and much of the beauty therein.
Instead, let me wait for all to unfold in its own time.

Each moment and state of growth contains a loveliness.
Teach me to slow down enough to appreciate life and all it holds. Amen.
