The Story of my Life

for life would no longer teach me anything..."

Ty-three Today

Posted by Claire |

Turned 33 today.

Unlike other years, I was sleepy and tired the night before my birthday. So after a pre-birthday dinner with the Hubby, I slept. Maybe age is catching up on me.

Two days ago, the hubby was asking me what I wanted for my birthday. And even though, I had a wishlist, I couldn't give him a straight answer. Maybe it's the age.

I've always wanted to be surprised on my birthday, but there's something different with this year, because I didn't want any. Maybe it's the age.

Or maybe, because, I'm just happy and contented with what and who I have.

I have been blessed with many --a loving and faithful husband, an adorable little girl, a comfortable home, a supportive family, and a stable job to see me through this lifetime. What else could I ask for?

I was deadset on having a surprise-less birthday. But when I opened our dresser to get my clothes, I saw hubby's surprise gift.

Nicely wrapped, ain't it?

Pretty fabulous!

Then at work, Gil and Ryah surprised me with loots from Muji (photo to follow).

And the most amazing surprise of all, Hubby and Kara visited me at work with matching flowers and lasagna for sharing.

I'm already having a ball, and I'm just halfway through the day. I love it.

Party invite c/o Anna Cuvin

We had our final baby shower last Saturday at Serendra where Jom and I had our engagement dinner a couple of years ago. This time around my friends from BigBarks organized the event. They took care of the games and souvenirs, fixed the venue and hosted the party. It was sort of a gathering of family and friends from different groups ---highschool, college, MBA, work, etc.

Souvenirs c/o Mellay

I had a grand time catching up with those I haven't seen for quite a while. The common reaction of our friends is that I've grown so big, they think I'm gonna pop anytime. I'm almost full term so yeah, they can say that.

The games were planned by Anna. At first, I was a bit anxious that Anna won't be able to pull off the games cause she's been very busy with her new job. But come the day of the shower, I was surprised that everything was well taken care of, including props.

This is the multi-tasking game. One has to put all the clothes on the clothesline while taking care of the baby and talking on the phone.

The cerelac eating contest was hilarious as each pairs has tofinish the cup of cerelac blindfolded. One pair ended up having cerelac all over her dress and face. lol

This is game is rather obvious. The Brazilian, the guy on the leftmost, won the game.

The rest of the night were spent chatting and picture-taking with friends. They wanted me to open the gifts for baby, but I declined because the last time I did that, I couldn't stand the thought of everyone watching me open their gifts. So, if you're interested to know what we took home here they are.

You wouldn't believe how many bottles I received from the shower. When I did the inventory, I had a total of 24 btls!!! Wow!

These are super cute comforters. :) I didn't think people would buy them for me but I'm super grateful. Hope they last until the second or third baby!

Look at all those pretty colors! Aren't they sooo cute??..

And these too...cutie socks!

The gift-opening had to wait the next day cause I was too tired to do it. But the next day, when I woke up to pee, I saw the volume of gifts in our living room and this paper bag on top of it. I knew what was inside so I woke up the husbo and thanked him for it. I call it mommy-reward. Thanks sooo much hon!

Now that all the parties are over, I've to start packing for d-day. My golly...can't believe it's going to happen soon. Ang lapit-lapit-lapit naaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! Can't wait to see Baby Kara. I love you baby.

Christmas

Posted by Claire |

This Christmas is extra special for me and the husbo because its the first year he and i celebrated it as husband and wife. And it follows that we also spent christmas with two families.

I felt the pressure of Christmas days before because of the thought that I have to accompany the husbo with his (last minute) shopping and to prepare everything for my family otherwise no one else will. Good thing that on the day of Christmas, our reliable Beth came to my rescue so everything back home was well taken care of.

Spent dinner with my family. My brother, sister-in-law, uncle, aunt, cousin and, of course, dad was with us. I miss my family. But I'm not complaining because my new family is equally important. After dinner, we moved to Jom's family for Noche Buena. The next day was Jom's family's annual Christmas party which made the bump look bigger because of all the food we ate.

Anyway, this year, Husbo and I did not only celebrate Christmas together, we'll also be celebrating our first year anniversary!! Can't believe that it has been a year. Time flies talaga when you're having fun, to quote a friend. hehehe

This year has been great. And I believe I've been good at spending and saving up so I thought of rewarding myself with this one. :)

And husbo gave me this as Christmas and Anniversary present! Yehey! I have new babies. :)) I sooooo love it!

Thank you Hon! Love you. Let's get your car bumper na!

This is a super late post, I know. Lately have been tamad to write anything. But since internet connection here at in-law's house is ultra fast, I might as well take advantage of it.

As you probably know, spent my birthday in Cebu with highschool friends. And what better way to spend your birthday than feast on Cebu's best? Lechon.

Yes, we bought 1 whole Lechon and brought it with us to Alegre Beach Resort. I'm not a fan of Lechon but Cebu's lechon is oozing with flavor making it so hard for you to resist.

After lunch, we headed back to our room to snooze off all the fat we ate.

It has two big beds for four people. But if you're on a tight budget, you could sneak in a few more people who can sleep in the bathroom.

The next day, we headed to Cebu's lakeside restaurant to eat fresh seafood. Sorry, was too busy devouring on the food, I forgot to take pictures.

On our final day, we headed to have lunch in Yakiniku. A Japanese restaurant offering grilled buffet of beef and chicken.

And to cap off my birthday, the husbo called on a few friends to celebrate with us.

My Birthday Weekend (part 1)

Posted by Claire |

I can't describe how happy I am. My golly. I'm just so overwhelmed with Jerome and the love of my family and friends. This is why I'm always excited to celebrate my birthday.

Three weeks before my birthday, I decided to celebrate in La Luz instead of having a party here in Manila. Primarily because I know that the latter would cost me more, and unfortunately, I didn't have that much moolah to spend for that. So I asked my friends if they wanted to go to La Luz and celebrate my birthday with me. The catch is that they have to pay for food and gas/transpo. I will only cover the cost of the room. And my friends, who are very supportive of their demanding friend agreed, without a doubt, to this request. :-)

So we were all excited for the trip and two weeks before, we've already listed the things we need to bring, etc. Party in Manila was out of the picture. We just agreed to sleep over at Jom's place to kick off my birthday celebration.

All the while I thought that was the plan. Except for one instance that Mellay slipped when she sent an email to everyone, thinking I wasn't copied, telling them of Jom's plan. But Jom was quick to retract what Mellay said. I don't know how he did it, but I managed to believe there won't be any surprise party.

Friday, 19 September. Jom picked me up from work. Went to the supermarket to buy stuff to bring to La Luz then went home. When we were at the parking lot of his place, he said "I'll just get the bottles hon. Then let's buy beer." I told him I had to use the restroom so I'll help him with the stuff. On our way to his unit, I saw a man in black polo who came out of his place. When he saw me, he hurriedly took cover. I couldn't make out who he was but when we were closer, I knew it was George. So I asked, "George, anong ginagawa mo dito?" He just laughed. The the classic "Surprise!" burst out.

Jom had invited my family (but they didn't make it) and friends from work, college, DWTL, etc. What was originally a small get together turned out to be a real party. The kind of party that I decided not to have because I couldn't afford it. He had everything planned. He knew I was going to invite few friends but he gave them instructions to decline to my invitation.

His e-mail invitation read:

Claire's torn between celebrating her BIG-THREE-O out-of-town or spending
it with everybody...

.. so il give her both.

See you on friday Sept 19, 7pm at my place in fort!!

(please come early because we'll leave early 6am sat to laluz.)
SSSHHHH... its supposed to be a surprise. (okay nicky??) hahaha
And my supportive and loving friends obliged. I was super happy. Sabi nga ni Gs, "wala akong mapaglagyan ng kaligayan."
I'm just so happy.

a bunch and a carwash

Posted by Claire |

I was up early today as I planned to get Krugger washed before I go to work. He really needs that bodywash dahil ang dugyot dugyot na nya and for heaven's sake V-day naman, he deserves some loving!!!

I was out of the door by 6:30am. As I walk towards him, I noticed that it regained its natural glow. I thought, someone must have wiped off the dirt from the windshield. I checked the rear to see if the dust and dried leaves I saw the night before was still there...but no it's squeaky clean. So I thought again "ah, bka lininisan nila Beth kaninang umaga", which is possible because she does that when she was still working for us. She would get up early, cook breakfast for us then clean our cars. But before I could get the key in the keyhole, I noticed the beautiful bunch on the passenger seat...a valentine treat from my Honey. :-)

So this morning, I had this silly grin on my face while driving to work. Ang sarap pala mag-drive ng malinis na kotse, lalo na kung iba ang nagpa-carwash (may libreng bulaklak pa, sosyal!). hehehehe. Thanks Babe!

Remember the nicely wrapped present I found on my desk? I opened it and it contained the book I asked for. And the donor? It's from my lovaaaahhh, sent thru his angel Dyosa.

I only found out when I noticed that the present he gave me on 21 December was wrapped the same way that mystery gift was wrapped.

Thanks Jom!

I found a nicely wrapped present on my desk this morning. It doesn't say who it is for, so I assumed it's for me. If this is for my boss or for my friend, sorry but you would have to get them something else because I own it now. IT'S MINE.

Remember this: ANYTHING PLACED WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF MY TERRITORY FOR MORE THAN 1 HOUR WILL BE DECLARED MY PROPERTY UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED.

Merry Christmas people!

Ps. Thank you for the brilliant idea Diyosa.
