1. Choose the items in your shabu-shabu platter - beef, chicken or seafood. Vegetable is a staple for every platter you order. The vegetable platter contains fresh homemade noodles, the fat and thin of noodles, vermicelli and egg noodle, Taiwan and Baguio petchay, beancurd, yam, black mushrooms and carrots.
2. Boil the soup at 150 degrees. When the soup starts boiling, it's time for the cooking to begin.
3. While waiting for this, you can start preparing your sauce. They will provide you with chopped onions, garlic, chili, spices and egg. What I do, I dump all the spices on the barbeque sauce, half of the chopped onions and garlic. I don't use the chili. The other half of the garlic and onion goes to the soup. To make the sauce thicker, I put the egg yolk in it, and the eggwhite on the soup.
4. Once the soup starts boiling, you may now start putting vegetables that takes a while to cook like corn and yam, and then the noodles. Next put in the meat, seafood. Vermicelli noodles, leafy vegetables, carrots, beancurd, meatballs should not be left boiling for more than 30 seconds.
5. You may put some of your sauce on the soup to add flavor.
6. Remember, eating and cooking may be done simultaneously. If you put the veggies last and the meat is not yet done, you may start with the veggies and so on.
And this is the happy bunch after a hearty meal at Healthy Shabu-Shabu.
Healthy Shabu-Shabu has branches in Podium, Bonifacio High Street, ATC, and SM North Edsa.
As mentioned in my earlier posts, I received two Muji gifts from Ryah and Gil. Just like Ryah, I have low EQ so when I get hold of a gift, I almost always want to open it right away. This time, I tried my best to controll myself until such time that I have take a photo of the packaging as well as the item itself.
Got a jar tea candles from Ryah, and they're all scented...Minty-scent to be more precise.
Gil, on the other hand, gave me shopping and toiletry bags. She said it's something I can use in our next trip. No Gil, will start using them, ASAP!. hehehe
Thanks Dears. Love you both to pieces!
And then there were fireworks to end my 33rd birthday....
Hubby picked me up after work and we headed to Makati Shang for dinner. At first he didn't want to tell me where we were having dinner but I eventually found out on the way. Funny thing is, our reservation was for Heat in Edsa Shang, not Makati Shang. He had no idea which Shangri-La Heat is. Good thing, there were empty seats at Circles in Makati Shang so we were accommodated. Sorry no prictures to prove this.
After dinner, we had our usual birthday drinks at Texas Roadhouse, Bonifacio Highstreet, with the Bigbarks and Leslie and Dex. Glad that Leslie and Dex joined para maiba naman. Hehehe
And to cap off the night, Leslie ordered her trademark drink for everybody.
We had so much fun from the trip that I think it would be nice to let you know who we were at the trip. Here goes:
The Hotshot Corporate Lawyer, Hannah, who entertained us with her wit.
Our Ate. Ate Ethel who we will treat for a Monster Deal very very soon!
The Manggagamot Inc., Jojo and Myra.
1. Yesterday, Husbo finally had the time to do the lay out of our home. By dinner time last night, he was able to present several plans to me. One I really liked most, is the one where we have a walk-in closet. Wow! It's as if we have a big house to be able to afford a walk-in closet. We had several discussions and it got me more excited. So by the time we were about to sleep, my mind was still playing with the idea of having a walk-in closet in our small home. This morning, I searched for ideas for a walk-in closet design. These are my options:

Oh well...Let's see what our space can accomodate. :)
2. We went shopping for the remaining stuff we need for Kara, mostly newborn clothes. Then it dawned on me that she's coming very very soon. And although, we have almost everything we need, we don't have a helper yet. Waaaahhh!!! Someone who can work around the house while I focus my attention on Kara. We've had several options in the past but none of them actually pushed through. We have another person as option but she can only come over on the 30th. Which, for me, is a bit too late if I still plan to train her. I hope someone can accompany her to Manila after holy week but not later than the 30th.
3. Got a text from my brother that they're having a baby boy. Good news for my dad, I'm sure. He already has 1 girl and 1 boy apo. Lucky man!
4. I don't like being invited to a conference where people don't talk, and when you do talk, they don't answer back. I think it's impolite. Maybe I should go invisible in YM so that I don't get irritated.
5. I also don't like being led-on. I think it's rude and insensitive.
6. On a lighter note, we cleaned our closet yesterday, and got rid again of some stuff. I hope to get rid of more stuff pa in the coming days. I also want to sell my old bags and clothes. I don't really expect to get a lot of money out of it, I just want to clear my closet so that when we move in to our new home, only the important and usable ones are left.
7. I got a nail polish from Ryah today...fresh from Korea. She, Mark and Eia went to Korea last week. I'm so green with envy cause I can't afford to travel anymore. But I'm glad they took the break. They all deserve it. Thanks, dear!
8. Happy that my OB allowed me to go an a short trip to Subic and Batangas for the holy week. But husbo I think prefers to stay in a hotel. Let's see.
9. Heard from SIL Mining that SIL Che will be coming home this week. She said she's having a bad case of homesickness. If I were in her place, I'd be homesick too. I miss Jom and my family quite easily, so I really can't imagine myself being away from them for so long. That's also the reason why I don't see myself working in another country.
Those are all my thoughts for today and the past few days. I know some are negative. I hope it's just the hormones. So much for Holy Monday.
Baby Shower: Last Hurrah
Souvenirs c/o Mellay
The games were planned by Anna. At first, I was a bit anxious that Anna won't be able to pull off the games cause she's been very busy with her new job. But come the day of the shower, I was surprised that everything was well taken care of, including props.
This is the multi-tasking game. One has to put all the clothes on the clothesline while taking care of the baby and talking on the phone.
The cerelac eating contest was hilarious as each pairs has tofinish the cup of cerelac blindfolded. One pair ended up having cerelac all over her dress and face. lolYou wouldn't believe how many bottles I received from the shower. When I did the inventory, I had a total of 24 btls!!! Wow!
The gift-opening had to wait the next day cause I was too tired to do it. But the next day, when I woke up to pee, I saw the volume of gifts in our living room and this paper bag on top of it. I knew what was inside so I woke up the husbo and thanked him for it. I call it mommy-reward. Thanks sooo much hon!
Now that all the parties are over, I've to start packing for d-day. My golly...can't believe it's going to happen soon. Ang lapit-lapit-lapit naaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! Can't wait to see Baby Kara. I love you baby.
This is a super late post, I know. Lately have been tamad to write anything. But since internet connection here at in-law's house is ultra fast, I might as well take advantage of it.
I came across this personalized card when I was searching for my previous christmas gift list and I recalled how dead na dead I was with my husband before we officially became a couple.
Jerome, Ching and I were inseperable back then. We'd hangout, watch a movie, or travel together even if it were just the three of us. We were all good friends, talking about a lot of things and sharing about our individual lovelife. I think I wrote this because I knew that, at that time, Jom was going out a lot. He was meeting a lot of people and it was not impossible for him to find someone.
The truth is, it was a subtle way of saying "pick me". lol
One of them is my friendship with high school friends. You see out of all the friends I have, my high school friends are the ones whom I rarely see. Perhaps 2 or 3 times max in 2 years. That’s it.
I’m happy that our wedding paved the way for us to be in touch again after so many years.
This is us with Tina and Jajie in Jalapeno. We spent one weekend in summer at a beach in Batangas, and we're planning another getaway this September. In Cebu this time. Can't wait.
With Roselle, Lyn and Mei taken last Monday at Grill Republic.
