The Story of my Life

"If I could wish for my life to be perfect,
it would be tempting, but I would have to decline,
for life would no longer teach me anything..."

Whats up????

Posted by Claire |

Hello!!! Yes, I am still alive. Yes, I am still fabulous.

I know...I know... I know... I know I owe you a lot of updating. I've been busy attending to so many things since the start of 2012, I barely have enough time to update my blog.

I've been busy being a mom, a wife, a woman of the house, an employee, and all sorts of different things. As much as I'd like to talk about what I've been up to, I really can't find the time. :(

What I can only give you now are snippets of what kept busy early in the year:

1. My little girl is growing really fast. She has four teeth now. Two on the upper and two lower front teeth. She's also learning to walk. She's a doll and I miss her everytime I'm away from her.

2. My hubby turned 33 last month. And in celebration of that, I threw a surprise birthday party for him. That's probably one of the most generous party I've thrown for him.

3. Hubby and I have been indulging in steaks lately. A little expensive, but when we have the budget and when there's a special occasion, we try to find a good steak house.

4. I never knew managing a household is this difficult, especially when you have two 19-year old yayas. It's like having two teenagers at the same time.

5. Been working on our itinerary for some time now. We were assigned to take on Italy, which is by far the most complicated and most expensive leg of the trip. But just looking at the pictures of the sites we'll see is enough to pump me up for this trip.

6. Work has been extra busy too, but boring. hahahaha

7. In preparation for the trip, I've enrolled in French class. ehehehe

8. And I'm back into photography. Acquired new lenses for the trip, and starting to acquire books to help me improve my current skills.

9. UAAP Women's Volleyball Finals is up this week. I hope my girls win.

Haaaayyy... So many things, so little time. I want to read more about France, Italy and Germany before we leave so I'd appreciate the place more. But I'm also dreading the day we'll leave Kara behind so I try to spend as much time as possible with her.

All these things happening at the same time. I'm not complaining though, but I hope I don't miss out on the important events in my hubby and baby's lives.

I'll be back for more updates. For now, I will leave you with a picture of my little girl when she turned 9 months. Hope this lightens up your day.

Kara at 6 Months

Posted by Claire |

6 1/2 to be more precise. Some of her milestones include: her first tooth already came out, another one on its way. She can already sit on her own, and she's already starting to crawl. She's also starting to communicate, she repeats ma-ma-ma, ba-ba-ba when she's upset or frustrated.

Last Saturday, though, we had to bring her to her pedia's clinic as she had cough and colds, again. But before leaving, I had to take photos of her as she was in the mood. Apologies for the blurry photos. I'm still getting used to the new lens.

Having fun with her little friend cum snack (yes, she munches on it when she feels like it.) hahaha

Her pretty bow. I want to have one myself. lol

Talking to Daddy.

Peek-a-boo with Daddy.

Crawling her way to the camera.

I'm just so happy that despite being sick she's still up and about. She plays and moves a lot so we don't get to worry so much.

Kara's first halloween

Posted by Claire |

I'm not a resourceful person. If I could have it easier then I would. I'm also not a fan of Ebay nor Sulit.com.ph. So when were looking for Kara's costume, I only looked around Toy Kingdom and Facebook. That's it. But as we were nearing Halloween and we haven't found any costume for Kara, I had to drag myself to research for online sellers of anything she can wear.

Luckily, I was able to find one and a cute one at that! That same day, we bought Kara's costume. She was a bumblebee. The photos below were shots taken at her first trick or treat experience in Rustan's.

Me and my cute little bee

We tried to make her sit beside the bear. But since she couldn't do it without support, her dad had to holder her so she won't fall face flat. hehehe

Husbo and her with other halloween characters. I had a laugh when I saw the white man behind Jom. Multong-multo lang. hahaha

I had so much fun doing this. I never imagined myself being a stage mom. But I was that day. Running around, looking for opportunities for her to get an official photo from the organizer and looking for something to take home with us.

Next time we'll bring her to a real trick or treat experience where she'll get candies and stuff that she can eat.

Kara Joins Jess' Family

Posted by Claire |

After 4 months of waiting, our first born officially became part of Kuya Jess' family last 17 September 2011. It was sort of a grand celebration as we were celebrating 3 occasions - Kara's Christening, house blessing and my `ty3rd birthday.

It was a busy busy day. But happy nonetheless. Kara was well behaved at the church. She had episodes during the reception but all because she was hungry and tired. But most of the time she was quietly observing what was happening around her. So proud!

My baby in her baptismal dress. Friends who saw this photo of her tease me that she looks like Strawberry Shortcake. hehehe

One family photo after the ceremony. We removed her hat as she was eating the ribbon tied under her chin.

Before we headed to the Reception, we had some shots at home. This was taken at the kitchen bar. Happy that Kara was cooperating very well.

We left her at home with the photog and her yaya as it was pouring outside.

See how well-behaved she is. Wasn't crying at all!

Ty-three Today

Posted by Claire |

Turned 33 today.

Unlike other years, I was sleepy and tired the night before my birthday. So after a pre-birthday dinner with the Hubby, I slept. Maybe age is catching up on me.

Two days ago, the hubby was asking me what I wanted for my birthday. And even though, I had a wishlist, I couldn't give him a straight answer. Maybe it's the age.

I've always wanted to be surprised on my birthday, but there's something different with this year, because I didn't want any. Maybe it's the age.

Or maybe, because, I'm just happy and contented with what and who I have.

I have been blessed with many --a loving and faithful husband, an adorable little girl, a comfortable home, a supportive family, and a stable job to see me through this lifetime. What else could I ask for?

I was deadset on having a surprise-less birthday. But when I opened our dresser to get my clothes, I saw hubby's surprise gift.

Nicely wrapped, ain't it?

Pretty fabulous!

Then at work, Gil and Ryah surprised me with loots from Muji (photo to follow).

And the most amazing surprise of all, Hubby and Kara visited me at work with matching flowers and lasagna for sharing.

I'm already having a ball, and I'm just halfway through the day. I love it.

As long as I'm living

Baby went on a crying fit last night after being disturbed from her peaceful sleep three times in a row. She was sobbing, screaming and coughing relentlessly out of frustration. Took me a few minutes to calm her down and when she did, she still made sounds that melted my heart away.

She fell asleep on my chest and didn't want to let go. It was a good 30-45minutes sleep . Whenever I would try putting her down, she'd give out a whimper and I'd find myself picking her up yet again. I was tired. I still had things to prepare for the next day's work but I hang on until she was peaceful. I was determined to do anything for her, to assure her that mommy will protect and take care of her, no matter what.

I'm back

Let me mark my comeback with a photo of my little girl, sitting on her new chair. This chair will, hopefully, relieve her yaya and us of having to carry her everytime she's awake. Also, this chair will give her the opportunity to look and appreciate the world around her. :)

Checking In

Posted by Claire |

I know I have a lot of updating to do. A lot has happened since my last post that are post-worthy but I just couldn't buy the time to do so. Been busy enjoying motherhood with my sweet pea and fixing the new place.

In the meantime, let me leave you with a photo-essay of what's been keeping me busy.

Happy weekend everyone!

Hanging on

Happy Easter to all!

We were with Jom's family the entire holy week break in their home in QC from Thursday to Saturday, then checked at Oakwood hotel Saturday afternoon `til Sunday. It was a good eat-sleep-eat-sleep weekend.

But despite the rest time, I feel tired today. Perhaps because the baby is getting heavier each day, and moving around is getting more difficult. Her kicks and punches are stronger now and harder to ignore. Getting up from the bed is also starting to become an ordeal, just like putting on lotion on my legs or wearing my underwear. My back is also starting to hurt and my legs are showing signs of edema. In short, life has become less comfortable for me.

I've started packing baby's bag last night. Tonight, I'll try to pack our bags. The helper will also arrive tonight. So I don't need to worry about preparing our dinner at home after work, and someone will be home 24/7 to oversee things in the house.

Few more weeks.

My Family O

Posted by Claire |

Was going through some photos in FB when I stumbled on this one. This was taken Christmas of 2009, just a couple of weeks before Jom and I got married. It has a caption that reads: Another addition to the Odsinada Family in one week she will be Claire Fanlo- Odsinada. Naks! ta clung..

I fell in love with Jom's family the first time I met them. To date, I still have the same love and admiration to them, and more for their parents. Ma and Dad are great parents to their children. Yes, they have their own share of imperfections, but it is enough that they've molded five God-fearing and loving individuals who touch other people's lives in different ways. I know, I've committed my forever to one of them.

I hope that when Kara comes, I can be like them and my parents. I hope that I can provide and love Kara the same way that Jom and I have been loved and taken care of by them. It's a tough act to follow, but I will try.

My Saturday

Posted by Claire |

I woke up last Saturday feeling a sickly, we came home late the previous night from the YDWTL weekend and my cough and cold have been giving me a hard time sleeping since Wednesday night. But Saturday was a busy day for Husbo and I so I had to be up and about early.

First, we went to see my OB for my semi-monthly check-up. We were there on time but my OB was in the DR doing emergency CS on one of her patients. I was no. 7 in line, if we followed that order we won't make it to our 2:00pm appointment at Cedar Crest. So I used my charm on her secretary. And guess what?? It was effective because I was the 3rd person to see my OB. The check up was quick, she prescribed a few meds for my cold and cough. Then she asked if we want to have your 3d/4d today. Which came as a surprise to me because I thought we can only have it in a week or two.

Of course, we both said yes. So after seeing her, we went straight to the ultrasound room. When we got there, the sonologist checked if the baby was in the right position for the ultrasound. Unfortunately, they said, she was lying face down so it was difficult to get a good picture of her. They asked me to come back but husbo and I have a 2pm appointment so we left and decided to have the ultrasound somewhere else.

After TMC, we went to Cedar Crest for unit inspection. Everything seemed in order from my point of view. So we have no qualms signing the papers for turnover. We sat there for a few more minutes and discussed the interior design that the husbo had in mind. We haven't agreed on anything yet but he was needed somewhere else so we left after about 30-45 minutes.

Then, we went to Husbo's project in San Lorenzo Vill, Makati, to drop off his worker's compensation. The house is almost finished. From where I was the house look stunning. One passerby even said, it looks like a resort. FYI, the house is Japanese-inspired. It has 3 structures --the main house, the teahouse, and the maid's house. Ang yaman lang ng may ari! hahahaha.

From the site, we went to The Link in Glorietta, where the ultrasound clinic was. Had our very late lunch at a nearby restaurant before our appointment. Then during our lunch, I'd whisper to the baby asking her to turn so that she'd be in perfect position for the ultrasound.

The time came for the ultrasound and she was still facing down. The OB did try to get pictures from a different angle. But most of the photos were from one side only, out of the i-dont-know-how-many she only got one frontal view. Which is this:

From this picture it is evident that the baby got Husbo's nose...which the husbo despises. Hehehe. He wants her to get my nose, not his. hehehe. Anyway, we're scheduled for re-scan this week. Hope we have a full frontal by then.

It was an eventful day for our family. And even though my energy level was dwindling, I didn't mind because the mere sight of the baby kept me strong and happy. Whattaday!
