The Story of my Life

it would be tempting, but I would have to decline,
for life would no longer teach me anything..."

My New Baby

Posted by Claire |

For sometime now, I've been really thinking of purchasing a lens for my cam. A few months ago, I decided to prioritize getting a flash. But I still kept an eye on this lens. Then, someone from work was selling her pre-loved lens 40% off the tag. The rest is history.

Here are a couple of test shots.

I'll let your imagination fly from here...

Kara Joins Jess' Family

Posted by Claire |

After 4 months of waiting, our first born officially became part of Kuya Jess' family last 17 September 2011. It was sort of a grand celebration as we were celebrating 3 occasions - Kara's Christening, house blessing and my `ty3rd birthday.

It was a busy busy day. But happy nonetheless. Kara was well behaved at the church. She had episodes during the reception but all because she was hungry and tired. But most of the time she was quietly observing what was happening around her. So proud!

My baby in her baptismal dress. Friends who saw this photo of her tease me that she looks like Strawberry Shortcake. hehehe

One family photo after the ceremony. We removed her hat as she was eating the ribbon tied under her chin.

Before we headed to the Reception, we had some shots at home. This was taken at the kitchen bar. Happy that Kara was cooperating very well.

We left her at home with the photog and her yaya as it was pouring outside.

See how well-behaved she is. Wasn't crying at all!

Come What May

Posted by Claire |

Love this song. And I sing it for Jerome. I love you, hon. Thank you for loving me the way you do.

When he looks at me

I know the boy sees things nobody else can see

All of the secret fears inside

And all the craziness I hide

He looks into my soul and reads me like nobody can

And he doesn't judge the girl

He just takes me as I am

Come what may, he believes

And that faith is something I've never known before

Come what may, he loves me

And that love has helped me open a door

Making me love myself a little more

When I turn away

He knows those are the times there's nothing he can say

Nothing that anyone can do

And so he lets me live it through

And when I'm in my darkest hours of uncertainty

He just simply lets me be

And goes right on loving me

Come what may, he believes

And that faith is something I've never known before

Come what may, he loves me

And that love has helped me open a door

Making me love myself a little more

And when it seems my dreams have all slipped through my fingers

When they just can't be found I turn around, and there they are

Shining in his eyes

Come what may, he believes

And that faith is something

I've never known before

Come what may, he loves me

And that love has helped me open a door

Making me love myself a little more

Come what may, he believes

And that faith is something I've never known before

Come what may, he loves me

And that love has helped me open a door

Pedring and Tequila Sunrise

Posted by Claire |

Typhoon Pedring left the husbo and I stuck in our home for one whole day. Most part of which we spent sleeping and playing with Kara. When the winds finally calmed down, Husbo and I saw the opportunity to grab our stash of tequila to warm up our cold night.

Thanks to HB Hazel for the new concoction, Husbo and I enjoyed our home-made Tequila Sunrise made up of 1 part tequila against 3 parts soda, then some salt and lemon for garnishing.

When we had enough, we went to bed, chatted and laughed about how silly we are when intoxicated. Had a good laugh that night and I loved it.

YSLove!

Posted by Claire |

Since Jinkee Pacquiao's publicized shopping spree in Beverly Hills, YSL has been reborn in my mind.

Last week, when Hubby and I were at Greenbelt 5 I've seen some women with a kind of bag I've never seen before. It was simple but very elegant. It was love at first sight for me and that bag. And like real people, fate brought us together...at Rustan's. hehehehe

The first color I saw on display was navy blue. The picture here doesn't give justice to the color and beauty of this bag, but I love it anyway. I love it. I love it. I love it.

I love the metallic effect of this one. It's so funky and modern. There are other colors of this bag but these three colors are my top picks.

Look at how the gold hardware gives the bag that umph!.

Buuut...I'm on bag diet until our trip next year so, no, I didn't buy this bag. I can't. All I can do now is dream of it.

Muji Loot

Posted by Claire |

As mentioned in my earlier posts, I received two Muji gifts from Ryah and Gil. Just like Ryah, I have low EQ so when I get hold of a gift, I almost always want to open it right away. This time, I tried my best to controll myself until such time that I have take a photo of the packaging as well as the item itself.

Got a jar tea candles from Ryah, and they're all scented...Minty-scent to be more precise.

Gil, on the other hand, gave me shopping and toiletry bags. She said it's something I can use in our next trip. No Gil, will start using them, ASAP!. hehehe

Thanks Dears. Love you both to pieces!

Ty-three Yesterday (Part 2)

Posted by Claire |

And then there were fireworks to end my 33rd birthday....

Hubby picked me up after work and we headed to Makati Shang for dinner. At first he didn't want to tell me where we were having dinner but I eventually found out on the way. Funny thing is, our reservation was for Heat in Edsa Shang, not Makati Shang. He had no idea which Shangri-La Heat is. Good thing, there were empty seats at Circles in Makati Shang so we were accommodated. Sorry no prictures to prove this.

After dinner, we had our usual birthday drinks at Texas Roadhouse, Bonifacio Highstreet, with the Bigbarks and Leslie and Dex. Glad that Leslie and Dex joined para maiba naman. Hehehe

And to cap off the night, Leslie ordered her trademark drink for everybody.

Ty-three Today

Posted by Claire |

Turned 33 today.

Unlike other years, I was sleepy and tired the night before my birthday. So after a pre-birthday dinner with the Hubby, I slept. Maybe age is catching up on me.

Two days ago, the hubby was asking me what I wanted for my birthday. And even though, I had a wishlist, I couldn't give him a straight answer. Maybe it's the age.

I've always wanted to be surprised on my birthday, but there's something different with this year, because I didn't want any. Maybe it's the age.

Or maybe, because, I'm just happy and contented with what and who I have.

I have been blessed with many --a loving and faithful husband, an adorable little girl, a comfortable home, a supportive family, and a stable job to see me through this lifetime. What else could I ask for?

I was deadset on having a surprise-less birthday. But when I opened our dresser to get my clothes, I saw hubby's surprise gift.

Nicely wrapped, ain't it?

Pretty fabulous!

Then at work, Gil and Ryah surprised me with loots from Muji (photo to follow).

And the most amazing surprise of all, Hubby and Kara visited me at work with matching flowers and lasagna for sharing.

I'm already having a ball, and I'm just halfway through the day. I love it.

Coron Crew

Posted by Claire |

We had so much fun from the trip that I think it would be nice to let you know who we were at the trip. Here goes:

The Delos Santos Couple with their adorobale son, Amos. It was Jabs' birthday weekend so Roy organized the trip.

The Hotshot Corporate Lawyer, Hannah, who entertained us with her wit.

Our Ate. Ate Ethel who we will treat for a Monster Deal very very soon!

The Manggagamot Inc., Jojo and Myra.

Photographer Arnel. If I had photos during this trip, that's because he took those. :)

Madame Lawyer, Delight. She was every bit of a Princess. hahahaha (private joke).

Party girl and booze supplier, Raiz.

and, of course,

Yours truly, Odsinada Couple.

Majestic Coron

Posted by Claire |

While the rest of the world has seen Palawan, I haven't been to any province until last September 8.

There are three top tourist destinations in Palawan --Puerto Princessa, El Nido and Coron. Puerto Princesa is famous for its caves, stalactites and stalagmites. El Nido for its white-sand beach and Coron for its lakes.

I've always wanted to go to Palawan to see its beauty with my own two eyes, and to take loads and loads of pictures. So when we went to Coron, that's exactly what I did. And I love that during those times I was so up to it and shooting was very spontaneous.

Our first day was a trip to Malcapuya Island. It was raining on our way there but we arrived at the island that was all bright and sunny. Thank you God.

The sky was magnificently picture perfect!

See what I mean?

On our second day, the rain was on and off. Too bad, the colors would've been great in photos had it been sunny that day.

Taken at Barracuda Lake.
And this at Cayangan Lake.

I tweaked it a bit to add more drama.

Even the sands were cooperating. Someone walked the same way I did.

I love Coron, not only for its natural beauty but also for its food and people. The seafood were fantastic. Nothing like it here. And also very cheap.

I also love how everyone cares for nature. In one of our trip, we saw some Korean tourists holding corals up sea level. Our boat stopped and our tour guide scolded the Korean for what they have done. She also scolded their boatmen and reminded them that utmost care and protection should be given to our environment.

Hope to see Puerto Princessa and El Nido next time.

2012

Posted by Claire |

My title sounds creepy, I know. Makes you think about the end of the world.

But in contrary, I have some exciting news. Something that gives 2012 a different meaning.

We're going to...

Yes, we're going to Europe! My big european dream will finally come true. This trip was supposedly scheduled this year, but something or rather someone BETTER came along so we had to postpone it.

A few months after this trip, we're going on a cultural trip to...

INDIA!!!! We're going to see Taj Mahal and explore the other cities of India.

The only sad thing about these two trips is that Kara will be left behind. Wanted to bring her with us to Europe but my in-laws advise otherwise. Don't worry baby, we'll go see Mickey and Minnie when you're a year older.

Wish List 2011

Posted by Claire |

I'm so not in the mood to work today. I'm sleepy, tired and my elbow's sore from badminton. So, in an effort to convert this lousy day into a happy one, I need to think of pleasant, exciting and happy thoughts. The only way to do that is to think of my birthday wish list.

Less than a month from now, I'll be turning 33. Wow! Never imagined I'd be 33 and sexy. NOT! Let's not go into that. Anyway, with my birthday fast approaching, I have to start thinking of what I want. hehehe

Here goes:

1. Balenciaga Motorcycle Bag. If my bestfriend is reading this, I'm sure she's going to have a mighty laugh knowing that I still haven't moved on from this. Just a background, a friend was selling her pre-loved Balenciaga bag to me a few months ago. I was sooooo interested, but had to decline because we just spent a fortune on my delivery, was going to spend another fortune renovating the new house, and most importantly, because the hubby didn't like it....Haven't stopped thinking about it ever since.

2. Blackberry phone. I think everyone is into blackberry except for the husbo and I. I heard that I can just add more or less P500 bucks to my monthly plan to get unlimited access to social networks such as Facebook, Yahoo Messenger and Twitter. Plus communicating with friends can be as easy as chatting while on the go.

3. Kenneth Cole Wedge Shoes. The first time I laid eyes on these pretty shoes, I fell inlove with it. I was still pregnant then and buying it would be a bad idea as I know my feet weren't in their perfect form. Now that we're going to buy it, they didn't have my size. We checked from every branch, but unsuccessful. So I don't know how we're going to get this.

4. A new pair of sunglasses. I've been using the same sunglasses since 2006 and honestly, I find it a little outdated now. So, I'm praying I could get one of those huge bumblebee like sunglasses with black frame, please.

5. To trim down to my pre-pregnancy weight. I think this one would be a gift from God if it happens. hehehe

6. Yankee Candles. I have this obsession on candles since we moved in to our new home. I already bought 3 sets of decorative candles and placed them in the bathroom and dining table. But what I really want are scented candles that serve as air freshener for the home. I already asked my friend to buy a couple from the states. But I think I'll need more.

I would also like to ask for books but I have so many unread books at the moment and they're all starting to pile up. So maybe, I'll skip that one for now.

So far these are the things I want for my birthday. If I have extra moolah, maybe I'll get myself a BB. Maybe.

New Toy

Posted by Claire |

One of the things I was happy to be rewarded with after giving birth was getting an iPad from the husbo. It was a toss up between a laptop (yes because my trusty Dell retired a few months ago) or an iPad, and despite the scarce supply of the iPad2 during that time, it still got my vote.

What got me so into the iPad was the thought that I could bring it anywhere and playing with it was as simple as tapping the screen. Not to mention it was light and sleek.

To date, the iPad has been my all-day, anywhere companion. It tags along wherever I go --mall, office, gym, even the bathroom. I love it because I can use it when surfing, catching up with my latest TV series, listening to music, reading the papers, taking pictures and videos of Kara's latest stunts, and so much more.

So happy with my choice. Thanks Hubby for this gift. Oh, and this post reminded me that I haven't baptized her with a name. Haven't thought of anything, actually, but suggestions are welcome.

As long as I'm living

Posted by Claire |

Baby went on a crying fit last night after being disturbed from her peaceful sleep three times in a row. She was sobbing, screaming and coughing relentlessly out of frustration. Took me a few minutes to calm her down and when she did, she still made sounds that melted my heart away.

She fell asleep on my chest and didn't want to let go. It was a good 30-45minutes sleep . Whenever I would try putting her down, she'd give out a whimper and I'd find myself picking her up yet again. I was tired. I still had things to prepare for the next day's work but I hang on until she was peaceful. I was determined to do anything for her, to assure her that mommy will protect and take care of her, no matter what.

Let me mark my comeback with a photo of my little girl, sitting on her new chair. This chair will, hopefully, relieve her yaya and us of having to carry her everytime she's awake. Also, this chair will give her the opportunity to look and appreciate the world around her. :)

Checking In

Posted by Claire |

I know I have a lot of updating to do. A lot has happened since my last post that are post-worthy but I just couldn't buy the time to do so. Been busy enjoying motherhood with my sweet pea and fixing the new place.

In the meantime, let me leave you with a photo-essay of what's been keeping me busy.

Happy weekend everyone!

Havin' a baby real soon

Posted by Claire |

I just finished packing our hospital bags. All clothes are already there except for our toiletries. Perhaps I can get them tomorrow.

Had my check-up with the OB earlier today and guess what, my cervix is already dilated by 1cm. Oh boy! The panic in my mind when I learned. But my OB assured me that it might still be too early to say that I’m going to pop now especially when the contractions have stopped. Yes, I had contractions on the way to the hospital with an interval of 10mins. I felt that before but I didn’t know that’s what contractions are until my OB confirmed it earlier. I bled a little but OB said not to panic. In fact, I can still go to work and move around.

Which is exactly what I did today. After the hospital, we went to the mall to get baby’s crib and some groceries. Then headed back home to have dinner and pack.

I’m scheduled for another check-up on Thursday…if I don’t give birth before then.

I’m going to stop here. I know my thoughts are scattered. I just checked in to say that in case you don’t hear from me again soon, then that’s probably because I’m too busy being a mom.

Ciao!

Hanging on

Posted by Claire |

Happy Easter to all!

We were with Jom's family the entire holy week break in their home in QC from Thursday to Saturday, then checked at Oakwood hotel Saturday afternoon `til Sunday. It was a good eat-sleep-eat-sleep weekend.

But despite the rest time, I feel tired today. Perhaps because the baby is getting heavier each day, and moving around is getting more difficult. Her kicks and punches are stronger now and harder to ignore. Getting up from the bed is also starting to become an ordeal, just like putting on lotion on my legs or wearing my underwear. My back is also starting to hurt and my legs are showing signs of edema. In short, life has become less comfortable for me.

I've started packing baby's bag last night. Tonight, I'll try to pack our bags. The helper will also arrive tonight. So I don't need to worry about preparing our dinner at home after work, and someone will be home 24/7 to oversee things in the house.

Few more weeks.
